Dome washers are spring washers moulded with a semi spherical shaped top. This design delivers a high load bearing capability and a low deflection. Spring washers use tension force to lock the nut into position. As the washer is tightened under load, the perpendicular cut ends of the washer clutch the nut and bind against it. Dome washers are generally used in applications where assemblies need a part to remove side play, control rattle, sustain assembly tension, compensate for expansion or reduction in materials after assembly, or to absorb intermittent shock loads and deliver a controlled reaction under dynamic loads.
