Lock washer, also identified as a split washer, is a singular kind of washer that is functionally designed to generate tension so that the bolt doesn’t loosen or else come out of its mounted position. Lock washers are not plane washers. They feature a semi-coiled design that steadily rises. Lock washers employ a spring tension that keeps the fastener from vibrating loose. They are functionally designed to be tightened to a necessary torque beneath a regular fastener. Lock washers are often attached to the nut side of the fastener. Lock washer is placed under the threaded fastener i.e., beneath a nut or the head of a screw or bolt. In assemblies where you have a nut and a bolt, the washer is placed between the nut and the head of the bolt. The threaded fastener is then tightening as normal.
