WHAT IS Tantalum
Tantalum is a shiny, silvery metal which is soft when is pure. It is almost immune to chemical attack
at temperatures below 150 C. Tantalum is virtually resistant to corrosion due to an oxide film on its
surface. Despite the fact that tantalum isn't one of the honorable metals, it is practically identical to
them as far as synthetic opposition. Also, tantalum is anything but difficult to work at well
underneath room temperature notwithstanding its body-focused cubic gem structure. Tantalum's
consumption obstruction makes it a significant material in an enormous number of compound
applications. Tantalum belongs to a class of metals known as refractory metals, which are defined by
their strong resistance to heat and wear. It has a melting point of 5,463 °F (2,996 °C), the fourth
highest of all metals. Tantalum is separated from niobium compounds by solvent extraction in a
liquid-liquid process and is then reduced to metallic tantalum powder.

Uses of Tantalum
• Tantalum is used in the electronics industry for capacitors and high power resistors.
• It is also used to make alloys to increase strength, ductility and corrosion resistance.
• The metal is used in dental and surgical instruments and implants, as it causes no immune
